MUSIC EXCHANGE-
OK. Although Jay was very sweet to offer his assistance, I think we should think generically.
I figure the easiest way is to make a mix CD of songs you like. Make a few copies. You exchange your mix CD for someone else's mix CD. I think this is a safer option than mailing any of our prized CDs to central people. The postage is a wash. You pay to send yours to me and I pay to send mine to you. Honesty plays into this. Don't say you're going to send a CD unless you mean it because we will mock you mercilessly if you renege.
Everyone should realize that by participating in this, you automatically lose some of you anonymity. People will know your real name and where you live or work. Thing carefully before you agree to participate.
E-mail me if you're interested. mint_chutneyATyahooDOTcom

Umm... Gmail saves postage AND preserves anonymity... why no to Gmail !?
Anyways, in either case, count me in. And technically, since I've already sent one to eM, Ive already started even !!

Heh heh... nice aggcent there ;)
Ooh I get a CD??? Ooh!
But here's what I propose, together WITH the cd, we also send a letter/postcard. No one gets snail mail anymore and it's SUCH fun getting letters with stamps and all :)
Also people should specify requirements of music, someone who likes trance for instance, wouldn't like a rock CD.
Vig: With Gmail, there might be legal problems.. especially here in the US.
I havent heard of anyone being sued by a record company for sending music over email, but, technically, this is still file sharing. also agree with em, there is a certain charm in snail mail.
I like eM's suggestion of sending a letter/postcard with the CD.
BUT I am sorry, I am backing out of this. I gave it a second thought and decided I shouldn't participate since I have nothing to offer in return. I don't know anything about western music and I don't own many western CDs.
You are welcome to send me letters/postcards though. NO ONE writes/emails me :( I don't even get junk emails these days :(( Boo Hoo Hoo...
I love the idea of sending postcard with it with a handwritten note. I hope I remember how to use pen and paper...
OK. We'll mail a CD in exchange for someone else's CD. Also, I like the idea of getting to know other people's music likes, regardless of the genre. I actually have a drum n bass CD that's really good (don't worry, I won't put any of the songs on my mix CD).
So far we have 5 participants: Vig, eM, Fin, Rat and Mint. Please e-mail me your mailing info and I'll compile a list for the 5 of us. mint_chutney@yahoo.com
(Gettingthere- no worries...I'll send you my CD anyway.)
*looks around shyly*....hey minty
im back * hugs*
:)
Does this mean nobody's sending me any money?
:(
